A No-BS Guide to the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale
Stating the obvious while giving you the method to my approach
It’s no secret that the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale’s offerings have felt the same for the past several years. In fact, when it comes to the NSALE, merchandise can get downright repetitive.
With so many summer sales happening at once, the last thing I want to do is overwhelm you guys. I’m sure this is one of several letters you’ll receive re: the NSALE, so I’m going to keep this very high level.
Here’s my personal approach to the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale:
Invest where it makes sense ✔️
Stock up where it makes sense ✔️
Leave the silly sales alone ✔️
Invest Where it Makes Sense
These are items that are worth the splurge to you. Not to anyone else — just you. Investment pieces are the ones you’ve maybe had your eye on for a while, patiently waiting for a deal to come up. This is your chance and your time to jump at the lower price, whether it’s clothing, handbags, sunglasses, jewelry etc. If it’s an item (especially a timeless, versatile item that isn’t too on-trend) you know you will use or wear for years to come and something you would pass down within the family, now’s the time to purchase said item.
Stock Up Where it Makes Sense
Every year, I use the NSALE as my chance to stock up on my Beauty favorites. These are the products I consider my tried-and-true and what I’ve been using consistently for a long time. As we all know, skincare and makeup routines can get expensive fast, so I make sure to add all my favorites to cart while they’re on sale, like the Donna Karan deodorant (been using for years and will never, ever consider another!), the Donna Karan body lotion (the smell is just too good), and the Oribe texturing that I use nearly every day on my hair.
Another perk about shopping beauty during the NSALE is many of the featured items are offered in smaller sizes, which makes a great case for testing them out before you fully invest or saving them for future travel or gifting!
Leave the Silly Sales Alone
I’m here as your friend to gently remind you that you don’t need that $20 t-shirt that’s on sale for $12. You probably already have something like it, and it’s just not a good use of your money. Try not to get sucked in by the small things that seem like big deals — little purchases of pieces or products add up quick, and you could very possibly spend that money on one or two investment pieces like I discussed earlier.

On My Radar
Because I was traveling when the sale started this year, I asked Liz, my righthand woman and Show Runner, to also create her own wishlist. She was “boots on the ground” for FJ this year, so I’m sharing both of our wishlists for a little something new and extra.
Thank you for subscribing to the FJ Substack and happy shopping!
xx,
Amy
